Capacity Management is an optional feature of Scheduler that extends existing functionality, enabling companies to be more proactive in their approach to planning jobs without the cost of a fully optimized solution.
Capacity refers to a minimum number of sequential hours in a block, guaranteeing usable time slots that can be protected by user definable rules. This could be, for example, in order to complete emergency repairs that may need to be scheduled at short notice. If the diaries of all engineers were already filled, this type of job would be almost impossible to complete. Therefore, Capacity Management addresses this problem.
The rules that can be defined incorporate:
Period to control – this refers to setting the Capacity Manager to reserve a certain number of sequential blocks daily, weekly or monthly.
Days of the week in a period – it is possible to reserve the blocks only on particular days or all days in a weekly or monthly period.
Date from and to – allowing the Capacity Manager to be activated between two dates or ‘in perpetuity’ (ongoing with no end date).

These rules can be suspended or reactivated and selected users and can be given rights to override them. Solarvista 7 Mobile Worker users can override capacity rules by real-time action.
Capacity statistics are viewable at any time for each rule and revalidated either daily or weekly (or never). Any adjustments to the capacity statistics are also fully audited.
By ensuring capacity is reserved for busy periods or that engineers have availability for urgent work that may arise, Capacity Manager reduces planning costs, improves customer satisfaction and helps to eliminate missed SLAs.
