GDPR is coming, are you ready?

GDPR is coming, are you ready?

It’s been the talk of the last few months, but what exactly is ‘GDPR’ and how will it impact your business? We have compiled together a number of frequently asked questions to help eliminate any uncertainties around the new law.

What is the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)?

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the new European Union data protection law that takes effect on May 25, 2018.  It sets out businesses’ responsibilities in relation to the personal data they collect and hold, together with governing the processes they use for managing that personal data.

Who will GDPR affect?

GDPR will affect all businesses who hold or process the personal data of individuals in EU Member States.

What happens if I fail to comply?

If you fail to ensure compliancy to the new regulation, then you are at risk of incurring a fine that can reach into the millions of pounds.

What is Solarvista doing to prepare for GDPR?

With the nature of our business, and the ongoing advances within cloud computing, protecting customer data is at the forefront of our business for our Software-as-a-Service customers on Solarvista LIVE/X9. We are proud of our continuous efforts to ensure the highest level of security is adhered to both inside our business and externally through our trusted provider, Microsoft Azure.

So without hesitation, Solarvista Software will be compliant with the new GDPR law and in addition to that, we also support the new legislation as it protects our customer data even greater than before.

Here at Solarvista, we are actively working on our GDPR strategy and have a dedicated team ensuring compliance not only up until May, but as an ongoing concern.

We are reviewing our policies and processes on a regular basis in order to address any additional requirements and we will continue to update and publish our policies on our website.

Should you have any queries regarding Solarvista’ s approach to GDPR please email our GDPR team.

Further information about GDPR can be accessed from the Information Commissioner’s Office
