Everything you need to know about the G Cloud Framework

Written by Carrissa Etches | Jul 21, 2017 1:30:00 PM

The G Cloud Framework helps the public-sector purchase cloud technology and support that meets the standards required from local authorities and the wider public sector. With a strong focus on how secure the services are and where they store their data, buying cloud services through this framework is faster and cheaper than entering into individual procurement contracts.

How are Suppliers Approved?

Suppliers are legally required to meet a set of minimum standards. Only those suppliers who state that they meet these minimum standards in the supplier declaration are considered for a place on a framework (agreement between government and suppliers).

All G-Cloud suppliers on the Digital Marketplace must confirm that they:

  • agree to the G-Cloud or Digital Outcomes and Specialists framework terms and conditions
  • will take full responsibility for the work they do
  • haven’t broken any laws in the last 5 years

Digital Outcomes and Specialists suppliers also must confirm that they’ll work according to:

  • Civil Service values
  • the government’s digital-by-default service standard
  • the government technology code of practice

Who is Eligible to become a Supplier on G Cloud?

Only suppliers that fall into the following categories qualify for G Cloud;

  • Cloud Hosting
  • Cloud Software
  • Cloud Support

There are currently over 20,000 cloud services on the Digital Market Place, all of which are off-the-shelf services and ready for purchase.

When did G Cloud  come into place?

From May 2018, the Digital Market Place opened for G Cloud 10 approved companies, superseding G Cloud 9. All previous suppliers had to reapply in order to be accepted on the G Cloud 10 Digital Market Place.

Solarvista Software is an approved G Cloud Supplier and our Cloud Field Service Software and Mobile Apps are listed on the Digital Market Place.
