Mandatory upgrade from V6 mobile app

The Version 6 Solarvista mobile app (named "Solarvista LIVE" in app stores) will stop functioning on March 31st, 2022. If you have the version 6 app, you need to upgrade as soon as possible to the newer Solarvista mobile app (named "Solarvista" in app stores and at time of writing, version 8.3).

How can you tell what version of the app you have?

The easiest way is to check the icon of the app, or you can check the version number whilst in the app (menu -> About)

How can you upgrade?

  1. Uninstall the existing V6 (or earlier) "Solarvista LIVE" app.

  2. Download and install the current version of the "Solarvista" mobile app from the relevant app store for your device (see here for further help).

  3. Sign in and continue working (see here for further help).

What do I need to do if I have Solarvista version 7 or above?

Nothing at this point, although it is recommended to operate the latest version of the Solarvista app so you have the most feature rich and reliable app available (at time of writing, this is at version 8.3). You can do this through your app store, and we advise having automatic updates enabled on the app store, so your device can manage updates for you.

Why are we stopping supporting the version 6 mobile app?

The last update to the version 6 app was May 2019 and was removed from the app stores over two years ago in January 2020. The version 6 mobile app was built on an older set of technology which we superseded with version 7 in January 2020. At the time of writing, the version on app stores is 8.3. Usually, our updates go through the normal app store update channels and are seamless for the end users, however, the newer Solarvista app (from V7) was built using newer technologies to make it a better, more reliable and resilient app. This meant we needed to release it as a different app. This requires the manual steps above to switch from the version 6 app to the newer app, version 7 or later. 

What happens if I don't upgrade to version 7 or above?

Recent changes to the services the app uses has meant connections to the app do not work consistently, meaning work items do not upload to the cloud reliably. To give a consistent experience and to reduce confusion, we will be turning off the services that allow the version 6 mobile app to run on March 31st, 2022.
